Presents the results of a study of the marital history of men and women that was conducted in June 1975 by the Bureau of the Census. The analysis covers the relation between the marital histories if husbands and wives or between marital events of mothers and characteristics of their children. Text tables include data on husband and wife households by number of times each have been married, education, family income, and race and age of husband; percent distribution of persons 35 to 54 years old by marital status, education, age, sex, and those who have remarried or those first marriage may end in divorce; and women (with 0 to 5 children) whose first marriage ended in divorce or widowhood, by age, number of children, number of years divorced or widowed, and whether remarried. Statistics are also included for living arrangements of children under 18 years old by marital status of mother and age, race, or Spanish origin of child. Detailed tables provide additional marriage data for husband-wife households and persons 35 to 54 years old classified by selected social and economic characteristics. Data for divorce and widowhood are presented by the recency of marital status, classified by the number of children born and the age of the mother at the time of the divorce (or widowhood), number of years since marriage ended, and women divorced (or widowed) and remarried by number of children born before divorce or widowhood. 40 pages.

Offers information on the timing and spacing of childbearing based on marriage and birth histories obtained in the June 1975 Current Population Survey. Detailed tables cover data on birth and marriage cohorts as well as for births in calendar periods. Data are presented for birth cohorts of women on births cumulated to successive ages by race, metropilotan-nonmetropolitan residence, and years of school completed; and for birth cohorts of wives on husband-wife primary families by occupation of employed husband and current family income. Statistics for birth cohorts of women include age at completion of childbearing, and spacing patterns between successive births. Gives statistics for the United States for 1976, with some comparative data from earlier years, on the demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of students enrolled in nursery, kindergarten, elementary, and high school, and in college or professional schools; excludes persons enrolled in vocational or adult education classes. The statistics which cover the civilian noninstitutional population are based on the results of the Current Population Survey conducted in October 1976. Charts show data for October 1967 to October 1976 on college enrollment rates of dependent family income and sex, percent distribution of dependent family members 18 to 24 years old, by college enrollment, family income, and sex, and reported method of high school completion for persons 18 to 34 years old by age, sex, race, and Spanish origin for October 1975. Data in the 25 detailed tables include the following: Enrollment status of the population by level; enrollment in special schools; college enrollment by year and type of college, year of high school graduation; marital status of the population by enrollment status; primary families by enrollment status; primary families by enrollment status of family members; and single grade of enrollment for persons enrolled in school and whether graduated form high school for those not enrolled.
