Technical Services Committee
Meeting Agenda
November 10, 2005
10:30 - 12:00
Main Library, room 122
Previous minutes available at: http://library.osu.edu/sites/techservices/tscomm.htm
Minutes: Tschera Connell
- Status report and discussion on review of policy on accompanying
materials (Marty)
- Update on proposal to retain hard-cover edition book jackets (Wes)
- Electronic Thesis and Disseration (ETD) workflows and
issues (Rocki Strader)
- Updates on Technical Services documentation review
- STX transfer procedures (Magda, Noelle)
At our Aug. 11 meeting, it was noted that Noelle would follow up with
CMT regarding the transfer documentation that was developed by
Renovation Working Group 5 with the goal of having all transfer
documentation in a single place. The aim was also to eliminate any
contradictions or redundancies and to follow up with a training refresher.
- Item maintenance using Millennium (Beth, Noelle)
At our Aug. 11 meeting, it was noted that Mary Scott would work with
Noelle, Beth, and Tauni to review the draft documentation relative to
its approach (e.g., concerning caveats about system actions that
could have unintended negative consequences). The group would
consider whether to recommend that the Item Record Update section in
the Millennium Circulation manual should be expanded to include such
information. The aim is to make one complete manual for all locations.
- Withdrawal procedures (Noelle)
We did not have time to discuss Noelle's revision at our Aug. 11
meeting and members were asked to do the review via e-mail following
that meeting.
- Feedback on revised Copy Cataloging Guidelines
At our May 19 meeting, TSC provided comments on a revision of the
General Copy Cataloging Guidelines prepared by the Shared Bib work
group convened by Magda. A Catalogers Forum on copy cataloging was
held recently and further comments on the guidelines were received.
- (as time allows) Any relevant issues from Nov. 2005 Charleston
Conference (Trisha, Lynda, others?)
- (as time allows) Update on planning for CIC conference on Access
and Infrastructure (Sally)
The conference will be held at OSU (at the Blackwell) April 10-11,
2006. Unfortunately however, CIC will limit attendance to probably
fewer than 10 per institution.
- Next meeting: Feb. 9
Agenda ideas:
- Rel 2005 status (target install Dec. break)
- EDIFACT implementation plans (must be in place by end 2006)
