- Can have more than one; one ISBN must match piece

050 LC call number:
- Do not delete from the record. All bibs must have a call number
- Accept or key local call number in 090 field
- Date: for non-fiction, use copyright date ; for literature, use printing date
- For conferences or proceedings, if the conference is the main entry, use the conference date ; if not use the publishing date (260 $c)
- If 050 ends in vol. # add another call number in 090 for subject of the book
- If using non LC call number such as LD41735 (Music AV desk) the non LC call number should be in the item record.
- Adjust classes M, N, and P to fit the OSCAR shelflist according to cataloging agencies’ local practice
- Catalog “Z” bibliographies under the subject classes

090 LC call number:
- Do not delete from the bib.

099 Local call number:
- Any non LC call number assigned by any cataloging agency should be added in 099. Examples: Thesis and LD41735 (Music AV desk).
- If a cataloging agency is cataloging the item for the fist time and the OCLC record does not have a call number in 050 or 090 fields, the non LC call number should be in the bib. If the item has been already cataloged by another cataloging agency, any new call number should be in the item record for added copy
1xx Authors:
- Correct typographical errors (e.g. spelling, punctuation)
240 Uniform title:
- Use “1” as first indicator in all cases
- Use “0” as second indicator and delete any initial article
- If present, cutter under the 240 instead of the main entry
- correct typographical errors (e.g. spelling, punctuation)
- Add if it is available or necessary
245 Title and subtitle ($b):
- correct typographical errors (e.g. spelling, punctuation)
- 1st Indicator (=1 if 1xx field is present, = 0 if no 1xx field; related to title added entry)
- 2nd Indicator (skip no. of characters = matches what is needed for title, e.g. 4 for "The ")
245 Statement of Responsibility ($c)
- The "statement of responsibility" (245c) should include any of the following types of contributors appearing on the title page: authors, editors, compilers, illustrators, translators, commentators, sponsors

4xx/8xx Series:
- Check that series is present in the record
- Add if it is not in OCLC record but on the piece
- 8xx is present and matches the book
- [if multiple numbers in subfield $v, list separately in 8xx

502 Dissertation notes:
- If the item is a thesis or a revision of a thesis and contains a formal note, this should be recorded according to the examples given below.

504 Bibliography note:
- Notes indicating the presence of bibliographical matter should be recorded as part of the catalog record, using the standard note:
Examples:
Includes bibliographical references.
When the book has a single bibliography, include its pagination in parenthesis:
Includes bibliographical references (p. 310-311).
However, do not change or delete other types of bibliographical notes on copy.
505 Content notes:
- Do not delete any content notes
- Add content notes if it is appropriate, e.g., variant title of previous editions, supplementary materials and other notes which justify added entries
- Update content notes for added volumes
- For added volumes, add to notes as appropriate as indicated in these OCLC guidelines

- Notes that describe items that are reproductions of original materials. Base the bibliographic description on the original publication. Describe the reproduction in the note.
856 URL
- If present, check on the WWW to see if the link works
- If it does not work delete it
- If the URL is deleted, delete all relevant fields associated with it such as 506, 530, 538
- Edited to add public note, #z Connect to this title
6xx LC subject headings:
- Do not delete any 6xx from the records
- Non-fiction titles must have at least one subject heading
7xx Added entries:
- correct typographical errors (e.g. spelling, punctuation)
- Add title access points if it is not in OCLC record but on the piece (246, 740, and 700$t)
- Add 740 or 700$t fields for distinctive titles to each volume of a multi volume set
- Add 246 for spine or cover titles only if these include words not appearing in the 245 $a, 245 $b, or other 740 or 246 fields.
- Add a 246 to spell out abbreviation appearing in the 245$a and $b.
